The 52nd Annual Convention of the American Druze Society was held at the Omni Rosen Hotel in the heart of Orlando, Florida, from June 30, 1998, to July 5, 1998.

Convention Opening and Keynote Guests

The convention opened with a welcoming speech by Mr. Tio Elmasri, Chairman of the Fundraising Committee. The convention featured lectures from guests of honor, including Mrs. Nazek Abed and Dr. Insaf Hassan.

The convention included a performance by the youth group of the Central Florida chapter of Dabke dancing, in addition to live entertainment featuring both Arabic and English musical bands.

Mr. Ghassan Saab chaired the meeting of the American Druze Board of Trustees. During this meeting, the Society's commitment to organizing its affairs in a professional manner, away from potentially divisive political issues, was emphasized. The Society's primary goal is to serve the Druze community and promote its culture and prosperity. The Society also seeks to establish additional Druze cultural centers to store documents and publications related to the Druze community and its distinct history.

Lectures on the Druze Faith and Children's Activities

The convention saw a lecture by Mr. Adel Hatoum on the Druze faith and significant youth participation in the event. Programs for children were also organized, which included games and entertainment.

The convention was an opportunity for the Druze community to gather and celebrate its rich culture and history. Distinguished members were honored, and the Druze identity and the Society's objectives were promoted during this distinctive social event.
