To confront the challenges of the times with faith and the greater jihad to preserve noble morals
The Sheikh Al-Aql of the Unitarian Druze community, Sheikh Dr. Sami Abi Al-Muna, issued a message for the anniversary of the Prophet's Birthday, which stated:
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Praise be to God, Lord of the worlds, and prayers and peace be upon the Master of the Messengers and upon his pure and good family and companions,
My knowledgeable Muslim brothers, my beloved Unitarian Ma'rufiyin, O believers steadfast in your Islam, faith, and excellence, O brothers and sisters…
The anniversary of the Prophet's birthday visits us this year like the rising sun after a dark and bitter night; a night burdened with tragedies, deviations, and destructive conflicts; a long night in which the world has become in dire need of light. And is there any light more brilliant than the memory of the birth of guidance and mercy, in a time when virtue has been insulted, vice has flourished, bestial desires have seized hearts, the darkness of materialism and its tyranny have dominated minds, humanity has lacked mercy and humaneness in its societies, and moved away from faith-based principles, spiritual values, and noble morals.
It is the time of vice, not the time of virtue, which we once expressed through poetry, saying:
We live in a time, whose affair is strange
It places the base upon the throne as a ruler
A time where vice has risen since the day
The cloak of virtue became a borrowed, worn-out rag
He added: "It is the painful truth that needs the radiance of faith and the birth of guidance and mercy in souls, and the appearance of hope emanating from the darkness of injustice and the gloom of shadows; darkness caused by the crowding of whims and the chaos of freedoms, and shadows embodied by an infernal, devilish thought in more than one arena and field, whether in the military, educational, social, economic, scientific, or environmental fields, not to mention the overwhelming anger of nature; earthquakes, floods, and climate change, which portend dire consequences that will be more severe and embarrassing if all of humanity does not confront them with high-level understandings, commitments of high credibility, advanced practical plans, and a single global oath to respect the balance of nature that the Creator, Glory be to Him, has granted us and perfected in the most complete state of order.
May the anniversary be blessed, and may the history in which the Master of the Messengers was born be blessed as a bearer of glad tidings and a warner; a bearer of glad tidings who promises goodness and peace, and a warner who cautions and alerts to the dangers of the paths of evil and conflict. He (PBUH) was 'inviting to Allah, by His permission, and an illuminating lamp.' The call is his call, and the lamp is his spirit and his essence; a call that guides to the straight path and the upright way, and a lamp that illuminates the path of ascent for the traveler
