For over fifty years, thinker, historian, and journalist Najib Al-Baaini forged a journey rich with contributions and an intellectual and literary legacy.

He enriched Lebanese and Oriental libraries with dozens of works spanning history, literature, politics, and journalism, demonstrating a prolific intellectual output that established him as an authoritative reference in history, particularly the history of Mount Lebanon with its prominent figures, personalities, and writers.

While historian Najib Al-Baaini was objective in his writings and addressed all issues throughout his works, the history of the Muwahhidun Druze community held a paramount place across all his books; he served virtually as an encyclopedia of its figures, leaders, and elders. He also brought a distinctive touch and a remarkable contribution to Al-Duha magazine, where he served as managing director.

He was also progressive in his thought and practice, with Al-Fikr Al-Taqaddumi magazine testifying to his valuable writings and their historical depth and critical impact.

Najib Al-Baaini was born in the town of Mazraat El-Chouf in 1936. He received his elementary, intermediate, and secondary education at the Daoudia College in Aabey, Aley District, where he obtained his Philosophy Baccalaureate, Part Two, in 1961.

He joined Beirut Arab University, Department of Arts and Postgraduate Studies, in 1964.

Over several decades, he wrote and contributed to numerous newspapers and magazines, including An-Nahar, As-Safir, Al-Ahad, Al-Kifah Al-Arabi, At-Telegraph, Ad-Diyar, Ash-Shiraa, Al-Liwaa, Al-Hayat, and An-Nahar Al-Arabi Wa Ad-Douwali.

He was elected as a member of the Administrative Board of the Lebanese Writers Union from 1993 to 1995.

He received the Said Akl Prize in 2003 and was a member of the Jean Salameh Cultural Award committee.

He headed the Chouf District Development Council for three consecutive terms: 1997, 2001, and 2004.

In 2004, he was elected by acclamation as President of the Municipal Council of Mazraat El-Chouf and Vice President of the Federation of Chouf Souayjani Municipalities.

He participated in numerous seminars and lectures, as well as ceremonies honoring several late and living luminaries. He left behind more than 30 publications covering diverse genres, including biographies, essays, novels, short stories, literary studies, history, and research.
