Nadim Abdel Samad was a high-caliber political militant who made many sacrifices for Lebanon and the Palestinian cause.
Abdel Samad was born in the Shouf town of Amatour. He served as Deputy General Secretary and Chairman of the National Council of the Lebanese Communist Party, before heading the Democratic Left Movement, which he co-founded with Elias Atallah and others.
He accompanied the leaders of the Lebanese National Movement, most notably the martyr teacher Kamal Jumblatt, leader Mohsen Ibrahim, and martyr George Hawi. He also maintained a close militant relationship with the martyr Samir Kassir, and held the position of General Secretary of the front participating in the Palestinian revolution.
He passed away in August 2019, and with his passing, Lebanon lost a great national figure.
