The town of Baalchmay in the Upper Metn hosted the periodic “Bread and Salt” gathering, which is held annually in one of the Lebanese regions. Its goal is to bring together all of Lebanon from various regions and sects in a single location that is determined annually in a different area.
This meeting was held at the Public House of Baalchmay in cooperation with the Civil Social Forum of Baalchmay, the Dannaf Charitable Association, and a number of activists, in the presence of the Secretary of the Democratic Gathering bloc, MP Hadi Aboul Hosn, town Mukhtars Naeem Al-Dannaf and Rifaat Abu Farraj, and the participation of civil institutions, associations, clubs, individuals, and activists from across the nation. The celebration also included a rich artistic program.

During the meeting, the “Rashaya Fine Arts Workshop Association for Culture and Arts,” the Gathering of Cultural Houses in Lebanon, and the “Inana Cultural Salon in Rashaya” honored Morshed Abi Morshed, a son of the town of Baalchmay and president of the “Excellence and Creativity Association.”

Association President Shawki Dalal said in his speech: We come today to a town dear to all our hearts, Baalchmay, to meet over bread and salt from all Lebanese regions and to honor the initiator of this national initiative, Mr. Morshed Abi Morshed, who, with his sincere love and patriotism, was able to unite the Lebanese from all sects and regions over a morsel of bread and salt, and proved to everyone that the Lebanese are one house and one family that cannot be divided by politics, crisis, or any storm that blows over Lebanon.

Dalal added: “From this perspective, and as is customary at the Rashaya Workshop Association in appreciating creators and patriots across the nation, we come today to honor this unifying national figure, Mr. Morshed Abi Morshed, and we urge him to continue these national activities that we are in need of today.”

For his part, Aboul Hosn praised the step and its significance, and also commended Abi Morshed for his role and great efforts with the organizing committee in making this national day a success by bringing friends together and meeting over bread and salt. It is an act we value and appreciate highly for the unifying meanings it carries for the Lebanese, which we all need in these days. Aboul Hosn also thanked the people and families of Baalchmay for their well-known generosity and for this honor that the honoree deserves.
