Death has claimed the representative of the Sheikhdom of the Druze Unitarian Community in Toronto, the late Sheikh Abu Suleiman Kamal Yahya.
The Sheikh Akl of the Druze Unitarian Community, Sheikh Dr. Sami Abi Al-Muna, delivered a eulogy and testimony at Yahya’s funeral, stating:
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
“Every soul shall taste death, and you will be paid your wages in full on the Day of Resurrection.”
Our dear brothers, family of the late departed, our Unitarian brothers, and all esteemed mourners.
Death is a truth, and there is no escape from it; it will meet us wherever we go, whether we are in the land of our fathers and grandfathers or in the lands of the diaspora. The soul remains, while the body is ephemeral. Man is rewarded for good deeds, receiving his recompense sooner or later. This farewell today serves as a minor resurrection, wherein a person is judged, testified for, and mercy is sought for them from God. Today, we bear witness for the late Sheikh Abu Suleiman Kamal Yahya, whom we knew both closely and from afar as an example of an expatriate who was never truly alienated; an example of a traditional man whom the world with its desires could not deceive, and whom exile did not take far from his Unitarian faith, his people’s morals, and his identity. Rather, he was a faithful representative of the Sheikhdom and a righteous representative of his Unitarian community, and a loyal servant to the Druze Maaroufi community in Toronto.
Our loss is great with your passing, Sheikh Salah, and our consolation—and the consolation of your family and loved ones—is that you have left behind a rich legacy of love, service, and sacrifice.
For your soul, we ask for mercy; for your family, long life and peace; and for those in charge of the representation and the affairs of the Druze community in Toronto, the strength to follow your traditional path and to work constantly to preserve the trust and unite the people.
Our condolences to the noble family and to you all. May God increase your reward, and indeed, we belong to God and to Him we shall return.
