Near the village of Majdal Shams located in the Golan Heights area, there is a shrine established to commemorate Sayyidna al-Ya'furi (AS). According to oral tradition, Sayyidna al-Ya'furi (AS) is the noble companion Abu Dharr al-Ghifari, who was known for his righteousness, his care for the poor and needy, and his spiritual approach and desire to draw closer to God, Almighty and Exalted, through advocating a life of asceticism, rejecting material life, and shunning extravagance.
The shrine consists of a two-story building located on flat, green land, surrounded by apple orchards and water springs. On the inner walls of the building, we read two moral religious sayings; the first states: "If your power calls you to oppress people, remember God's power over you!" The second consists of two noble Quranic verses, as God Almighty said in His glorious book: ﴿But as for he who feared the position of his Lord and prevented the soul from [its] inclination * Then indeed, Paradise will be [his] refuge (Surat an-Nazi'at (79), verses 40-41). After the June 1967 war (the Six-Day War), the twenty-fifth of August was set as the fixed date for the annual pilgrimage to the shrine of Sayyidna al-Ya'furi (RA), based on the date of the first visit made by Sayyidna Sheikh Amin Tarif (RA), who was the spiritual leader of the Druze community in Israel. Since then, thousands of Druze families from the Galilee and Carmel regions visit the shrine on this day every year, as this annual gathering and meeting contributes to strengthening relations and ties between the Druze of the Golan Heights region and the Druze of the villages of the Galilee, the coast, and the Carmel.
