Syria and the artistic community have bid farewell to one of Syria's most prominent artistic figures, the great actor and director Mashhour Khayzaran, who passed away on the morning of Sunday, October 29, 2023, immortalizing his name in the memory of Syrian art and leaving behind an unforgettable legacy.
An artistic and cultural journey
Mashhour Khayzaran was born in Jabal Al-Arab in As-Suwayda Governorate, where he grew up in a rich and diverse cultural environment. His artistic journey began in the 1970s when he joined the International Theatre Institute in Lebanon, where he learned and gained experience by working with the most prominent directors and actors of that time.
During his military service in the Military Theatre, Khayzaran did not just participate as an actor; his contribution also included directing, as he directed the play "Without a Face," written by the Bulgarian author Burgilov, which achieved great success.
"Al-Kherbeh": The final legacy of his masterpieces
The last of Khayzaran's creations was the series "Al-Kherbeh," which was recently aired and won the admiration of audiences. The series dealt, in a critical comedic way and a distinctive artistic style, with the lives of people in the village of Al-Kherbeh in As-Suwayda Governorate. This series was the medium Khayzaran chose to express his point of view and his vision of the world.
Mashhour Khayzaran has departed, leaving behind an invaluable artistic and cultural legacy. He had an indelible mark on the world of Syrian art and theatre. His death is a great loss to the artistic scene, but his heritage and works will continue to inspire future generations and shine like a star in the sky of Syrian culture. Farewell to a spirit of art and creativity, farewell to Mashhour Khayzaran. Indeed, we belong to Allah and indeed to Him we shall return.
