Prince Hassan al-Atrash is one of the most prominent figures of the Unitarian Druze community in Syria.
Al-Atrash (1905–1977) was born in the village of Ariqa in Jabal al-Druze and studied in As-Suwayda and Damascus.
He participated in the Great Syrian Revolt and displaced to Jordan.
He was appointed governor of the mountain between 1937–1941, appointed Minister of Defense in the Syrian government in 1942, and elected to the Syrian Parliament as a representative for As-Suwayda in 1943.
He was appointed governor of the mountain once again. He was also appointed Minister of Agriculture in 1954 and Minister of Awqaf (Endowments) in 1955.
Prince Hassan al-Atrash was the husband of the late artist Asmahan.
