In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
I did not wish to depart from this mortal world to meet my Lord without conveying to you some of my concerns that have never left my thoughts and orientations throughout my life. I have seen fit to summarize these concerns in this letter, which I wanted to carry the meaning of a "will," due to the utmost importance I place on comprehending and adopting it for the present and future of our noble Druze community in general, and for each of its members in particular.
Therefore, I implore you — by the right of the pride, consciousness, and chivalry for which you are known:
- That every individual among you always remembers their origin, roots, the heritage of the Druze community, its history, and its glories, and that you narrate this to your grandchildren and children, and plant in their thoughts and souls the virtue of adhering to the behavioral and moral principles that were behind those brilliant glories and luminous history, and that you maintain your cohesion and the unity of your ranks in times of both prosperity and adversity.
- That you always work to ensure your leadership remains one and unified under all circumstances, because the many experiences that nations and peoples have gone through have confirmed that no nation can have strength, elevation, progress, tranquility, stability, or dignity if it is afflicted by discord and division.
- I warn you against excessive emigration, which carries within it the seeds of fragmentation and disintegration, generating general weakness in the long term, along with what often results from this: the loss of the identity of your homeland, which has provided and continues to provide you with the factors of prestige, respect, and stability.
- I warn you against marrying outside the faith, as it constitutes a denial of the principles of the Tawhid doctrine and a departure from all its noble traditions and customs. Furthermore, it generates the erasure of these customs and traditions and the burial of everything related to them that we take pride in, in terms of history and heritage. The consequences are not limited to you, but extend to your children, who become complete strangers to all those solid foundations that helped your parents and grandparents rise to the most difficult responsibilities, face the gravest dangers, and occupy prestigious positions throughout their history, which is full of achievements and chivalry.
- I warn against falling into the mire of drugs and their consumption, intoxicants, gambling, and smoking, not only because they are forbidden, but because they also often lead to the loss of health, money, manhood, and dignity.
- I urge you to pursue applied sciences and not be content with theoretical sciences. I also urge you to devote a significant portion of your efforts to respected commercial, industrial, and artistic activities, so that time does not outpace you, and you remain closely connected to what is familiar in the era in which you live, with all the existing challenges between individuals and groups.
- I urge you to take an interest in establishing institutions of all types, topics, and activities—be they health, social, cultural, or humanitarian—because sound institutions fortify your existence, preserve your dignity, affirm your pride, help you meet your needs, and push you forward in the realms of progress, liberation, and prosperity.
This is my message, or rather my will to you, my brothers, sisters, and Muwahhidun children. I hope you reflect upon its contents, scrutinize its dimensions, and act as individuals and as a group, for I believe that in committing to this, there is a safeguarding of your noble existence and a fortification of this existence within the homeland and beyond its borders for days and ages to come. And with God is the help for that which is for your goodness and pride.
