Ismat Hassan, a well-known Lebanese poet from the Unitarian Druze community, was born in the town of Bshamoun in 1953.
Hassan completed his university studies and emigrated to the Gulf to work in trade and contracting.
Passion for Poetry and Literature
However, poetry and literature remained his greatest passion, and he participated in many poetry festivals and evenings across most Lebanese regions.
Hassan founded the Shores of Literature Forum in Bshamoun and contributed to the founding of the White Ink Forum.
He is strongly present in the poetic and literary scene in Lebanon, and he has published: "Qawafi Atiba" (Reproachful Rhymes), "Sha'a al-Hawa" (As Love Willed), "Buhoor al-Nagham" (Seas of Melody), "Hibr Mu'ajjal" (Postponed Ink), "Zill al-Masafa" (Shadow of the Distance), "Hurras al-Hibr" (Guardians of Ink), and "Nawaris al-Adab" (Seagulls of Literature).
