As part of the economic empowerment plan for women and girls, the Progressive Women's Union, Metn District Body - Baalchmay Branch, held an environmental and artistic training course titled “Recycling Clothes for Making Carpets and Dolls,” presented by trainer Ibtisam Abu Nassif at the Baalchmay Public House.

The course began with a speech by the head of the Union’s branch in Baalchmay, May Hamdan Abi Faraj, who welcomed the participants from the town and neighboring towns, noting the importance of empowering girls and women in achieving an economic and social renaissance, and the resulting stimulation of the economic cycle in society. She also pointed to the need for women to be more involved in municipal and political work, concluding her speech by thanking trainer Abu Nassif for her efforts.

During the course, the participants were trained on how to make use of old clothes and transform them into dolls and carpets instead of throwing them in the trash, which causes an increase in the amount of waste and, consequently, an increase in pollution levels.

Through the training courses it organizes in various towns and regions, the Progressive Women's Union seeks to economically empower women and girls by training them to master crafts that help them achieve their financial independence.
