Suleiman Ali Redan, a Lebanese expatriate from the Unitarian Druze community, born in the town of Ain Ata in the Rashaya District. He made his way to Australia in the late 1960s, struggling and striving for a better life. He became the backbone for many expatriates in that country after becoming a great benefactor to his community, his town, and his homeland.
Redan never forgot his town or his people; he provided much assistance and built a social club for celebrations in Ain Ata, in addition to supporting youth in finding job opportunities and traveling abroad, specifically to Australia.
Community Presidency
He assumed the presidency of the Druze community in Australia during the outbreak of the civil war in his homeland, Lebanon, where he played a major role in providing aid and support. He was visited in Australia by Dr. Sami Makarem, Sheikh Issam Makarem, then Secretary-General of the Druze Foundation for Social Welfare, and leader Sami Barakat, as envoys from the late Sheikh al-Aql Mohammed Abu Shaqra and the President of the Progressive Socialist Party, Walid Jumblatt. From his position as president of the community, Redan raised funds for the children of martyrs and orphans. He also supported the Druze Orphanage Foundation, Al-Irfan, and other charitable institutions.
Redan continued to stand by his people and his country, especially during crises, as was the case during the economic crisis that Lebanon experienced after 2019.
