The meeting began with the Lebanese national anthem, followed by a minute of silence in memory of the martyrs of Palestine and the soul of the late Dr. Abu Ajram. Then, the principal of Baakline Public Intermediate School, educator Najat Al-Ghosaini, delivered the opening speech, praising the initiative of the late artist's family and his daughter, Dr. Mayada Abu Ajram, "who wished to translate the image of one who portrayed love as awareness, giving, motivation, and the spreading of the values of goodness and beauty." She pointed out that the creative visual artist, "the ambassador of peace, contributed with his brush to embodying the nation as civilization, sophistication, and thought."
She noted that "the late artist was a lover of words and letters, which is why we made this occasion a tribute to him, as the brush and the pen met in this exhibition of beauty, which coincides with World Arabic Language Day."
Abu Ajram
In her speech, Dr. Mayada Abu Ajram explained: "We meet today to commemorate the third anniversary of the passing of the artist Dr. Imad Abu Ajram. We will introduce our students to who we are talking about, to whom we dedicate peace, and from whom we derive knowledge and the love of life. He is Imad Abu Ajram, who loved drawing even though his parents wanted him to become a doctor or an engineer. However, he insisted on pursuing the study of visual arts and became a world-renowned artist, winning many medals, shields, and awards, and was crowned Ambassador of Peace in 2010."
She also spoke about the features of her late father's paintings, saying: "Artistic paintings pulsing with vitality and beauty, expressing goodness, giving, and the joys that God Almighty has bestowed upon this earth. In his paintings, he guides towards optimism, hope, and a bright future, portraying reality in its sweetest meanings and most beautiful qualities... Not only that, but his paintings were distinguished by the colors of revolution, hope, and the faces of simple farmers and fighters, as the Palestinian cause took its place in his paintings, embodying freedom in all its holiness." She concluded her speech by thanking those who contributed to the commemoration.
Both the school administration and its parents' council thanked the late artist Abu Ajram's family for their initiative in providing supplies for artistic activities for the school and drawing tools for the students, encouraging them to continue the journey of art and creativity.
The meeting included an exhibition that brought together drawings by the late artist Dr. Abu Ajram and models produced by the school's students, "bearing the alphabet of the Arabic language, its rules, and its most beautiful expressions, to consolidate its status and the majesty of its meanings."
