Ramzi Musharrafieh is a Lebanese politician, surgeon, and university professor who served as Minister of Tourism and Social Affairs in Hassan Diab's government in January 2020, nominated by the Lebanese Democratic Party. On August 10, 2020, the government resigned, and he served in a caretaker capacity until the formation of Najib Mikati's government on September 10, 2021.

 

The Surgeon

Musharrafieh graduated from the American University of Beirut, then moved to the United Kingdom and joined the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital. He joined the Department of Surgery at the American University as an assistant professor in 1991, then as an associate professor in 1997. He later became the head of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the university and the medical director of the Emergency Unit at its medical center.

He is also the president of the Lebanese Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery and the Lebanese Orthopedic and Traumatology Society. He co-founded the American Academy of Emergency Physicians and is a member of the British Orthopaedic Association, the British Society for Surgery of the Hand, and the British Association of Microsurgery.
