A major and qualitative transformation is being witnessed at the “Druze Orphanage” located in Aabey – Aley District. This project embodied a dream cherished by the late Aref Bek Nakad, who worked hard to make it a reality. It would not have developed and become what it is today without the encouragement and assistance of many benefactors, and it remains committed to this message of goodness and keen on its continuity after more than eighty years.
The “Druze Orphanage” constitutes an integrated project, as it provides social, administrative, psychological, educational, health, and nutritional care for orphaned children and those in difficult circumstances.
On the social and administrative side, the institution seeks to build trust between itself and members of society; the new administrative committee works diligently and continuously to support the children and improve administrative and care performance in light of the applicable laws.
As for the psychological aspect, the children receive continuous care and follow-up by specialists in the most prominent centers concerned with psychological problems and their treatment.
Driven by its belief in the right of children to obtain a sufficient amount of scientific and cultural information, the orphanage always seeks to provide high-quality services in the field of education to create a civilized, educated generation capable of giving and development; the students pursue their education at the Shakib Nakad Model School from kindergarten to the ninth grade, and then move to the vocational education stage at the Aref Nakad Vocational School, choosing the specialization that suits them.
Moving to the health aspect, we point out that the Druze Orphanage has its own dispensary where doctors perform periodic examinations for children on a regular basis. The institution also owns a dental clinic in addition to providing most of the necessary medicines.
In the field of nutrition, the orphanage has witnessed a tangible development, as the menu has been diversified and kitchen service has been improved in accordance with international standards and food safety. The institution also pays special attention to ensuring the provision of food that achieves balanced nutrition and suits the children's tastes.
During this period and the glorious holidays, the “Druze Orphanage” invites everyone to support its children, who number about 400 between boarding (about 160) and day students, who are in need of care, so please remember them with kindness.
In conclusion, the administration of the Druze Orphanage emphasizes the importance of networking with broken families and providing the necessary support to ensure the return of these children to a stable family environment. This is also one of the projects currently being followed up under the sponsorship of officially recognized associations and experts.
