Issam Hussein Naaman, born April 2, 1942, was a lawyer, politician, author, lecturer, former member of the Lebanese Parliament, and former Minister of Telecommunications.

 

Early Life and Education

Issam Naaman was born on April 2, 1942, in Sidon, Lebanon. He received a Bachelor's degree in Public Administration in 1958 and a Master's degree in Political Science in 1965, both from the American University of Beirut (AUB). He obtained a law degree in 1960 and a Master's degree in Public Law in 1979, both from the Lebanese University. In 1984, he completed a PhD in Public Law from Columbia Pacific University in California.

 

Career

Issam Naaman worked as a lawyer starting in 1963. He then became a member of the Lebanese National Movement (1975-1982). In addition, he was a lecturer at the Faculty of Information at the Lebanese University (1978-1988).

 

In Politics

In 1992, he was elected as a member of the Lebanese Parliament, and he lost his seat in the 1996 elections. He served as Minister of Telecommunications in Prime Minister Salim Hoss's cabinet from 1998 to 2000. In 2005, he became a member of the "Third Force Movement."
