His Eminence Sheikh Muafaq Tarif, the Spiritual Leader of the Druze community, followed the dangerous news coming from Jabal al-Druze regarding Jordanian shelling that targeted some mountain villages to combat the drug trade, leaving a number of victims and wounded among the Druze community members there who have no connection to these issues.
Immediately upon receiving the news, His Eminence made emergency contacts with the Jordanian Embassy and the Jordanian army forces, condemning the shelling of the residential area and emphasizing the necessity of fighting the entities that smuggle drugs while exploiting the mountain and its unarmed civilian population, thereby endangering their lives.
His Eminence also emphasized the role of the Druze as those who have safeguarded the borders with Jordan for many long years, amidst their constant demands to control security on the Syrian-Jordanian border to curb the chaos that has been fueled for years by malicious instigating parties.
Furthermore, His Eminence reached out to the Jordanian Royal Court, demanding a thorough investigation into this shelling, which could create a security and field escalation in the region, while calling for the pursuit of the real smugglers and avoiding harm to unarmed citizens.
In the same context, His Eminence spoke with the sheikhs of the areas that were shelled, expressing his solidarity with all the residents and villages and confirming full support and commitment to providing all necessary aid and assistance.
