The Sheikh Akl

Following testimonies from Brigadier General Anwar Yahya, Mr. Samir Shams El-Din, and the Mayor Mr. Shadi Yahya, His Eminence the Sheikh Akl offered a testimony for the deceased, saying: "Death is a truth, and God is just. In death, there is justice; there is no injustice in death. Every soul shall taste death, but what distinguishes one human from another is their work; work is the path of life, their path with their Lord, with their family, in their village, their community, and their humanity. The late Sheikh Abu Azzam Amin Yahya was someone we knew, and he was known by the honorable sheikhs, by Al-Baniyeh, the region, and the Mountain as a pioneer, a contributor, and someone who worked with diligence and sincerity."

He added: "We rarely participated in a duty without the late Sheikh Abu Azzam being at the forefront. Representing His Eminence Sheikh Naim Hassan, he was his assistant, a trusted and loyal person, and a dear brother. His initiatives in Al-Baniyeh bear witness to him, and the testimony of retired Brigadier General Anwar, Mr. Samir, and Mr. Shadi regarding the late Sheikh Abu Azzam is nothing but a confirmation of that, in addition to the testimonies of the honorable sheikhs."

He concluded: "May God have mercy on you, Sheikh Abu Azzam. We knew you as a hard worker, active, and a lover of unity and Tawhid (Monotheism), and of a unified voice. We knew you as one who was always striving for good, for uniting the community. We knew you as always serious and persevering in building institutions. The Al-Baniyeh council stands as a witness to your dedication, and I was personally shown by you the account books, in which you were precise and organized to the furthest extent. May God have mercy on Sheikh Abu Azzam; he left behind a legacy of good deeds and righteous work. May God reward you greatly; our condolences to his noble family, and indeed we belong to God and indeed to Him we shall return."

His Eminence the Sheikh Akl then led the prayer, with Sheikh Anis Al-Ayash by his side, before the body was laid to rest in the family cemetery in the town.
