The town of Moukhtara Al-Shouf and the media and literary circles bid a sorrowful farewell to poet and journalist Ramzi Hazza Azzam (Abu Tamer), who passed away following a heart attack in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, where he worked for Al Arabiya-Al Hadath channel. 1.
The funeral was attended by clergy, media professionals and journalists from Lebanon and Arab countries, political and security figures, social figures, municipal and mayoral representatives, and delegations of mourners who flocked to the Moukhtara Al-Shouf town hall to bid farewell to Azzam and offer condolences to his family and friends.
A delegation from the Progressive Socialist Party also participated in the funeral, conveying the condolences of President Walid Jumblatt and party leader MP Taymour Jumblatt to the bereaved family. The delegation included Shouf Interior Commissioner Dr. Omar Ghannam, Shouf Upper Second, Arqoub, and Central Shouf representatives Walid Al-Ashqar, Suhail Abu Saleh, and Dr. Bassam Al-Beaini, along with members of the agency and representation apparatus, as well as party branch directors and members.
The funeral proceedings featured eulogies and tributes from the deceased's colleagues and friends, praising his virtues, achievements, and his professional and personal journey. They highlighted his work in media institutions, where he demonstrated unparalleled dedication and professionalism, as well as the courage and great communication skills that gave him the ability to shape events. They also noted his fierce defense of media and public freedoms. A speech on behalf of the family was delivered by journalist William Azzam. Afterward, prayers were recited for the soul of the deceased before his body was laid to rest in the town's cemetery.
The family received condolences for the late journalist at the Moukhtara Al-Shouf town hall, and later at the Druze Unitarian Community House in Beirut, where delegations of mourners, including media figures, politicians, and social and cultural dignitaries, arrived. Among those who offered condolences were the Sheikh Aql of the Druze Unitarian Community, Dr. Sami Abi Al-Muna; Minister of Education, Judge Abbas Al-Halabi; former Minister Ghazi Al-Aridi; Members of Parliament Faisal Al-Sayegh, Hadi Abu Al-Hassan, and Ashraf Rifi; Vice President of the Progressive Socialist Party Zaher Raad and Secretary-General Zafer Nasser; as well as a number of members of the leadership council, commissioners, and interior regional agents of the "Progressive" party; advisor to President Walid Jumblatt, Rami Al-Rayyes; and leader Dr. Nasser Zeidan. The media commissioner of the Progressive party, Saleh Hudaifa, also offered condolences to the family at their home in Hazmieh, praising the deceased's morality, professional integrity, and the sincerity of his character.
