His Eminence the Sheikh Akl of the Unitarian Druze Community, Sheikh Dr. Sami Abi Al-Muna, made a phone call to Prime Minister Najib Mikati, appreciating his national role and wishing him success in addressing social, economic, and general national issues. He also contacted former PM Saad Hariri to check on his health following his surgery.
His Eminence also received a phone call from the head of the Lebanese Democratic Party, Prince Talal Arslan, who thanked him for his role in the recent reconciliation between youths from the towns of Aitat and Aramoun.
His Eminence had previously received at his residence in Chanieh a delegation of senior sheikhs and dignitaries from the town of Aramoun, represented by Sheikh Abu Tawfiq Talie Al-Muhtar, Sheikh Amin Al-Muhtar, lawyer Bassam Al-Muhtar, and Mr. Nahi Al-Muhtar, who thanked His Eminence Sheikh Abi Al-Muna for sponsoring the reconciliation between youths from Aramoun and Aitat regarding the University of Balamand incident that took place months ago, the effects of which were resolved through a reconciliation at the home of His Eminence the Sheikh Akl last Monday.
The Sheikh Akl responded with a speech in which he praised "the responsiveness of everyone to the reconciliation efforts, especially the esteemed Al-Muhtar family and all those who helped overcome obstacles from leaders, dignitaries, and sheikhs," stressing "the spiritual, social, and Ma'roufi bonds that connect the people of the one mountain, which we must protect and strengthen with all our might."
His Eminence the Sheikh Akl met at the community house in Beirut with the former Chief of Staff, retired Major General Amin Al-Arm.
He also met a delegation from the "Beirut Sons Association," which included Public Relations Advisor Mr. Ziad Moussa and Executive Director Mr. Ibrahim Kalash, to invite him to the association's Iftar.
He also met a delegation from the family of the late Sheikh Fouad Salim, the former representative of the Sheikhdom in the United States of America, to thank him for his participation and condolences to the family in the town of Jbaa, Chouf, and for his testimony regarding the late generous man.
Among his visitors were Judge Rami Abdullah, lawyer Bassam Al-Halabi, Mr. Ayoub Al-Jurdi, and poet Wajdi Abdel Samad.
He also received in Chanieh a delegation of sheikhs from the town of Agmid, lawyer Sheikh Yamen Nakad with a delegation of sheikhs, a delegation of former dealers of the "QNet" company—which His Eminence the Sheikh Akl had previously forbidden dealing with—to complain about the problems they encountered, and then Dr. George Al-Habr and his wife, Dr. Al-Habr.
