The Diaspora Office of the Progressive Socialist Party1. in Canada commemorated the anniversary of the martyrdom of the Teacher Kamal Jumblatt in the city of Edmonton. The event was attended by members of the Party's Diaspora Office, the representative of the Sheikh al-Aql in Edmonton, Sheikh Rabih Salameh, representatives of the Lebanese Forces, the Free Patriotic Movement, the Syrian Social Nationalist Party, a delegation from the Palestinian Association, and a number of party members and supporters.

The ceremony began with a minute of silence for the soul of the Teacher Kamal Jumblatt and the souls of the martyrs of Gaza and Palestine, followed by the Canadian national anthem, the Lebanese national anthem, and the "Progressive" anthem.

Afterward, Bassel Malaeb welcomed the attendees, speaking about the suffering of the Palestinian people in Gaza and the brutal war they are being subjected to.

Then, the official of the Progressive Diaspora Office in Canada, Samir Jaber, spoke, saying: "Today we are brought together by the anniversary of March 16th, the anniversary of the one whose body was assassinated but whose thought has inhabited all hearts. The anniversary of the inspiration to generations who called for establishing the principles of humanity and justice in a geographical area where human rights have been killed and lost."

He added: "I wish you knew, my Teacher, how much we need you, and the application of your noble and sublime humanitarian teachings, so that justice may prevail and humanity may triumph. How right you were when you said: 'The struggle for the sake of justice is a victory over the self and the ego. It is the victory of humanity and development over reaction; it is ultimately the victory of life within us.'"

He continued: "You struggled, Teacher, for an elite capable of telling future generations 'I have done my duty,' and here we are, upholding the pledge to perform our humanitarian and moral duty to build a society of justice, equality, love, and true unifying humanity."

He added: "Is there anything more honorable than crossing over the bridge of life, which we seek and struggle for, toward a society governed by justice and equality; to the battle of life that is inseparable from the battle for justice and humanity, raising the word of truth, and planting the seeds of brotherhood and love, to elevate our society from darkness to light—the light of justice and truth, the light of humanity and man, as you taught us, Teacher."

He further added: "Here, I take this opportunity to make a heartfelt call, first to our comrades, then to our Lebanese and Arab brothers, let us be united and integrated, let us be one heart beating with everything that brings good and love to our children and our society, and let us confirm one slogan: 'To be or not to be'."

Jaber concluded by saying: "47 years after your martyrdom, your teachings and principles still illuminate the path of struggle toward a society whose supreme goal is freedom, dignity, and equality. Peace be upon you in your high place, our leader, inspiration, and teacher of generations. We pledge to you that we remain committed to our promise, under the wise leadership of President Walid Jumblatt, and with the Party President, MP Taymour Jumblatt."
