Riad Haidar, a son of As-Suwayda Governorate, had a career full of giving and achievements in the fields of medicine and politics in Poland. He won the hearts of the Polish people through his work as a pediatrician and as a politician who reached the Polish Parliament.
Riad Haidar was born in As-Suwayda Governorate in 1951. In the prime of his youth in 1973, he traveled to study medicine in Poland, graduated from medical school in 1981, and specialized in Polish hospitals in the field of pediatrics and neonatology in the Polish city of "Biała Podlaska," becoming a pioneer in his field.
In cooperation with his medical team, he achieved many accomplishments in the field of saving numerous premature infants and newborns by introducing and developing many medical devices to save children from critical conditions.
He served as a member of the central provincial council for 12 consecutive years, which prompted him to run for a seat in the Polish Parliament in 2019, becoming the first of Syrian origin to do so. He received nearly 25,000 votes, the highest result in the province during those parliamentary elections.

He received many decorations, including the Silver and Bronze Medals of Merit, as well as the highest Gold Medal awarded to him by the President of the Republic of Poland.
Haidar passed away in May 2023 at the age of 72, and his body was laid to rest in Poland in an official funeral procession.
