Al-Qurayya Club in As-Suwayda organized a promotional rapid chess tournament for various age groups at the club's hall.
In the tournament, held in cooperation with the Chess Technical Committee, Mirna Abu Hadeer won first place in the under-13 category, followed by Yarub Al-Hamdan and Hamza Al-Humoud. In the under-10 category, Fayez Shuqair took first place, and Saif Al-Maaz took second after a tie-breaker match due to an equal points tally, while Saif Mubarak came in third.
Al-Qurayya Club President, Nawras Malih, stated to SANA that the tournament came as part of the club’s action plan to activate and develop the reality of the game within it, noting the efforts of the supporters and contributors to its success.
For his part, the head of the Chess Technical Committee, Engineer Rifaat Khader, indicated in a similar statement that the tournament was held using the Swiss-system tournament format over five rounds, emphasizing the importance of continuing to hold such tournaments and expanding them to rural clubs.
