On Saturday, May 4, 2024, the Cancer Patients Friends Association in As-Suwayda, in cooperation with the Red Crescent branch in the village of Namra, put a free clinic for early breast cancer detection into service.

The head of the association's board of directors, Dr. Adnan Muqalled, told SANA that the clinic aims to raise awareness and educate about early detection, and to teach women self-examination in order to reduce the number of cases and alleviate the suffering of breast cancer patients.

Muqalled added that the clinic receives patients every Friday, where they are examined by a female medical team and their conditions are followed up. He pointed out that if any urgent health change is detected, the woman is referred for a mammogram or breast ultrasound, depending on her age, at health centers approved by the Health Directorate or private radiology clinics whose imaging costs are covered by the association.

It is noteworthy that the Cancer Patients Friends Association in As-Suwayda has previously opened clinics for early breast cancer detection in the cities of As-Suwayda, Shahba, and Salkhad.
