The Media Office of the Mashyakhat al-Aql issued the following statement:
The ongoing persistence in insulting religions, deviation, and blasphemy against God Almighty and His Messenger (PBUH) under the slogan of personal freedoms and development—aimed at striking at the foundations, liberating from religious principles, attacking their pillars, and seeking to dissolve moral values through various methods and forms, sometimes through media via programs that are given the necessary space for such deviations and insults, and other times through comedy plays, acting, and more, to reach the youth and other segments of society directly, as one of them recently did by insulting the true Islamic religion, mocking prayer and the pulpit of the Messenger (PBUH), and disparaging religions in general.”
The Media Office, while expressing its “rejection and strong condemnation of these insults,” reaffirms the “directives of His Eminence the Sheikh al-Aql, Dr. Sami Abi Al-Muna, in this regard, and calls upon the relevant state agencies, especially the Bureau of Morals Protection, the Judicial Police, and the Ministries of Information and Culture, to monitor and take strict action against everything that touches the essence of religions or infringes upon them, by applying the applicable laws and punishing those responsible for such acts and their presenters without finding justifications for such violations, such as citing freedom of expression and the like, which must always be governed by moral, social, and national constraints.”
