The film “From the Mountain” covers milestones and events from the Great Syrian Revolt and its leader, Sultan Pasha al-Atrash.
Critic and journalist Nidal Qousha says the film presented a remarkable visual language and handled a national subject concerning resistance against a colonizer in a calm, serious, and dramatic manner, far from the clichés usually relied upon when addressing such topics. Its subject and treatment have received much attention.
The film “From the Mountain” won four awards at the sixth session of the As-Suwayda Short Film Festival: Best Film, Best Director for Faisal al-Atrash, Best Cinematography for Nikolai Kalatzin, and Best Actress for Yumna Marwan.
