In 1938, Princess Asmahan Al-Atrash sang a Syrian mawwal after leaving Jabal al-Druze for Egypt and divorcing her husband, Prince Hassan Al-Atrash.

The lyrics of the mawwal say: “Caravans loaded with bells ringing, and days gone by resonating in my mind, I carried my goods and went around selling them, a stranger, and no one bought from me”.
