His Eminence Sheikh Al-Aql of the Unitarian Druze community, Sheikh Dr. Sami Abi Al-Muna, met at the Community House in Beirut with the Minister of Economy and Trade, Amin Salam, who offered him greetings for the blessed Eid al-Adha. They discussed several topics related to the ministry's tasks and the importance of activating investment and productive projects in the regions, especially in the Mountain.
After the meeting, Minister Salam stated: “I was honored to visit this generous house and meet His Eminence Sheikh Al-Aql to offer Eid al-Adha greetings, hoping it will be a year of goodness, blessing, and peace. We discussed economic issues concerning the nation and the Mountain, including our initiative that we started a while ago to support mountain provisions and a number of artisanal industries. We agreed on the importance of following up on such initiatives to support families and people going through very difficult circumstances for the sake of living a decent life. We also agreed to activate coordination between the generous Community House and the Ministry of Economy to support youth as well, and to look into the available possibilities that we can cooperate on, to create job opportunities and benefit in the near future, God willing, when things calm down, with investment projects that would create an economic atmosphere and an important climate for job opportunities and enhance movement in several regions in Lebanon and the Mountain.” He added: “It was a very fruitful visit, and we informed His Eminence that the Ministry of Economy is always ready to cooperate and work on the various opportunities that could improve people's circumstances and conditions.”
His Eminence Sheikh Abi Al-Muna also met with the Italian Ambassador to Lebanon, Fabrizio Marcelli. The meeting addressed the general situation and developments in Lebanon and the region, in addition to bilateral relations between the two countries and the importance of strengthening and developing them. The Italian ambassador offered His Eminence Sheikh Al-Aql congratulations for the blessed Eid al-Adha.
Furthermore, he met with the General Secretary of the Progressive Socialist Party, Zafer Nasser, in a greeting visit during which current conditions were discussed.
Among the visitors to His Eminence Sheikh Al-Aql was the interim director of Bank Al-Baraka in Lebanon, Mr. Ahmed Safa, accompanied by Sheikh Bilal Al-Mulla, where they offered congratulations for the blessed Eid al-Adha and discussed general Islamic issues.
He also received a delegation from Notre Dame University, Shouf branch, headed by Father Walid Moussa, which included administrators Elie Abu Abdo and Rifaat Nasr.
His Eminence also received Dr. Ramzi Salha, Dr. Moufida Abed, and Mr. Mazen Abed, to invite him to a book signing for Salha on the 27th of this month at the Baakline National Library. He also received a delegation from the family of the former Chief of Staff, Major General Riad Takieddine, including: Dr. Karim Takieddine, Mr. Tarek Takieddine, and Dr. Abeer Takieddine, accompanied by the Director General of the Druze Council, Mr. Mazen Fayyad, to present a special book about Major General Takieddine. He also received Mr. Walid Al-Boustani, then lawyer Hazem Al-Beaini.
On the other hand, His Eminence Sheikh Al-Aql received further calls and cables congratulating him on the blessed Eid al-Adha, most notably from: Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Bechara Boutros Al-Rahi, Deputy Head of the Supreme Islamic Shia Council, Allamah Sheikh Ali Al-Khatib, Head of the Coptic community in Lebanon and Syria, Father Andraos Al-Antoni, Head of the Independence Movement, MP Michel Moawad, former Minister and MP Talal Merhebi, Commander of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), General Aroldo Lazaro, President of the Audit Bureau at the Council of Ministers, Judge Mohammad Badran, Director of Army Intelligence, Brigadier General Tony Kahwaji, Head of the Order of Engineers Fadi Hanna, Brigadier Generals Wajdi Damj and Nidal Dagher, Sheikh Fayez Seif, Director of Roads at the Ministry of Public Works, Engineer Hossam Youssef, Advisor to the Minister of Education Nader Hudaifa, and Mr. Kamel Mezher.
He was visited at his residence in Chanieh for greetings by: A large delegation including sheikhs and residents of Majdalbaana, a delegation of sheikhs from Agmid, Head of the Officers' Club - Rayak, Brigadier General Nabil Saraya, accompanied by Major Cesar Mahmoud, then Lieutenant Colonel Jad Zaki, Commander of the Rachaya Battalion, Mrs. Diaa Abi Al-Muna and her sons Amir and Bahaa, and the family.
