Lebanese Minister of Interior at the Druze Sect House

His Eminence Sheikh Aql of the Unitarian Druze community, Sheikh Dr. Sami Abi Al-Muna, met today at the Sect House in Beirut with the Minister of Interior and Municipalities, Bassam Mawlawi, accompanied by a delegation that included: Judge Mireille Mallak, Colonel Wajdi Kulaib, Lieutenant Colonel Danyal Abi Al-Lama, and Major Nader Qasab, in the presence of sheikhs from the members of the Madhhab Council, advisors, and directors of the Sheikhdom of Aql and the Madhhab Council.

Minister Mawlawi offered his congratulations to His Eminence on the blessed Eid al-Adha, and the discussion touched upon national and general issues currently under consideration.

The meeting was an occasion during which His Eminence the Sheikh Aql welcomed the Minister of Interior and Municipalities, commending the efforts made by security forces to maintain general stability in the country in light of the security risks faced due to ongoing Israeli threats. He called for rallying around the forces entrusted with safeguarding the security of the homeland and its people, and for striving to strengthen unity of word and stance in the face of the harsh challenges that put Lebanon before a delicate and fateful stage today, which requires everyone to join efforts and cooperate to address the urgent basic issues that serve the country and alleviate the burden of its crises.

After the meeting, Minister Mawlawi stated: "We visited this honorable house to greet His Eminence the Sheikh Aql on the occasion of the blessed Eid al-Adha. We thank him and all the sheikhs present for the distinguished reception. During the visit, we generally reviewed the problems and crises facing this country, whether politically or in various other aspects, and we reassured His Eminence about the security situation, as a result of the great effort made by the security and military forces to preserve the security of the citizens."

He added: "We discussed various matters that concern us all, with constant emphasis on the unity of the Lebanese and all components of Lebanese society; this unity which always serves the interest of the nation and the higher political interest, and which would reflect positively on the public interest, the citizens, and all members of Lebanese society."

Democratic Gathering member MP Dr. Bilal Abdullah also met with him to offer Eid al-Adha greetings, affirming "His Eminence's national positions in preserving the unity of the country in the face of Israeli aggression and anchoring the pillars of national unity."

MP Abdullah also briefed His Eminence on the efforts being made by the Gathering and the Progressive Socialist Party regarding the presidential vacancy and the issue of Syrian displacement in particular.

Among the visitors to His Eminence Sheikh Abi Al-Muna were Mufti Sheikh Hassan Sharifah, Imam of Al-Safa Mosque in Beirut, and the official of the Beirut region in the Amal Movement, Mohammed Abbani, to invite him to the Ashura commemoration ceremony at the Central Council in Mouawad.

He also received the head of the "Union for the Protection of Juveniles in Lebanon," Ms. Amira Sukkar, and Mr. Jihad Abu Fakhr. Then, the head of the "Lebanese Foundation for Permanent Civil Peace," lawyer Rabih Qais, who briefed him on the foundation's activities and presented a collection of the foundation's books and publications. As well as the businessman Mr. Melhem Salman.

His Eminence the Sheikh Aql also met with Madhhab Council member and Al-Safa Sports Club President, Sheikh Riad Atallah.

His Eminence the Sheikh Aql also received at his residence in Chanieh, Democratic Gathering member MP Faisal Al-Sayegh, where a number of general issues were discussed.

He also received former Minister Chakib Cortbawi, who came to offer Eid al-Adha greetings.

Among his other visitors were: Brigadier General Youssef Najm, Colonel Wael Mahmoud, and Major Ahmed Moati.

His Eminence the Sheikh Aql offered condolences at the Sect House, heading a delegation of sheikhs and officials from the Sheikhdom of Aql and the Madhhab Council, for the late Sheikh Abu Hikmat Ismail Fayez Noufal. He had also offered condolences for the late Salah Salman at the Sect House, and for the late Sheikh Abu Liwa Sami Shumeit in Aley.

On the other hand, His Eminence the Sheikh Aql delegated his advisor and member of the Madhhab Council, Sheikh Wissam Suleiqa, to represent him and deliver a speech on his behalf at the preliminary scientific forum for the conference on "Nahj al-Balagha, the Path of Salvation," at the Imam Khomeini Cultural Center in Beirut.

He also delegated his Media Advisor, Sheikh Amer Zein El Din, to represent him at the "Ghadeeriyah Beirut-2024" event, under the patronage and presence of the Vice President of the Supreme Islamic Shia Council, Allama Sheikh Ali Al-Khatib, and the seminar on the book "Al-Ghadeer and the Imamate" at the headquarters of the Islamic Shia Council in Beirut.
