The Maqam al-Sharif shrine in the town of Sharoun, Aley District, holds a special place for the Unitarian Druze, due to the spiritual and symbolic meanings it represents, dating back approximately a thousand years.
The Druze visit it for blessings, and it serves as a space for meeting and gathering.
The shrine has recently taken on a 'new-old' look following an elegant restoration process, with a sophisticated touch that revealed the stone and the ancient arch that forms the foundation of the building, which dates back hundreds of years.
It is a true architectural and cultural treasure, in a civilized landmark that shines ever brighter as those secrets 'age' in its presence, with their disclosure becoming like spilled essence.
The attached photos show the Maqam al-Sharif before and after the restoration.
