The Sheikh Akl of the Unitarian Druze Community, Sheikh Dr. Sami Abi Al-Muna, received MP Faisal Karami, accompanied by his advisor Othman Majzoub, at the Druze Community House in Beirut. The meeting addressed public issues, specifically the developments in the South and Israeli aggression, as well as offering greetings on the occasion of the blessed Eid al-Adha. This took place in the presence of Judge Sheikh Gandhi Makarem and advisors, member of the Sectarian Council Sheikh Fadi Al-Attar and Sheikh Dr. Ramzi Sarieddine.
After the meeting, MP Karami stated: "Our visit to the Sheikh Akl is a visit of affection, love, respect, communication, and greeting, and an affirmation of the bonds that unite the Lebanese people and the national constants that protect the country from all the internal and external risks it is exposed to."
He added: "We had an in-depth conversation regarding economic, social, and legislative aspects, and we found a convergence of views, especially regarding protecting Lebanon from Israeli aggression and the required effort to unify ranks in the face of this brutal enemy that does not hesitate to strike civilians, villages, and the innocent. In this context, we affirm that Lebanon's protection comes through our national unity and the activation of constitutional institutions to elect a President of the Republic. We have noticed in recent times a decline in the pace of the parties' movement regarding this matter, as the war and tensions in the South take their toll. However, protecting the South, like protecting Lebanon, is achieved through constitutional institutions."
He continued: "We need a President of the Republic and we need communication, understanding, and dialogue between all parties. From here, we call on everyone to return to reason and wisdom and not to bet on foreign parties, wars, or the enemy to impose conditions in Lebanon. No conditions will be imposed on the Lebanese in light of the directions we are experiencing today; therefore, the only solution between the Lebanese is communication and dialogue."
He also received the advisor to the Vice President of the Supreme Islamic Shia Council, Allamah Sheikh Ali Al-Khatib, Dr. Ghazi Kansou, who conveyed the greetings of Sheikh Al-Khatib and discussed a number of common issues. He also received the head of the Druze Endowment Committee in Beirut, Mr. Akram Al-Zuhairi.
