President Walid Jumblatt received, in Clemenceau, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the European Commission Josep Borrell, leading a delegation from the European Commission and the EU Ambassador to Lebanon Sandra De Waele, in the presence of the President of the Progressive Socialist Party MP Taymour Jumblatt, member of the Democratic Gathering bloc MP Wael Abu Faour, and the party's Vice President Zaher Raad.

The meeting included a discussion on a number of files, most notably the Israeli aggression on Lebanon, the war in Gaza, and the Palestinian file, in addition to several local files such as the presidential election and the Syrian displacement.

After the meeting, Jumblatt said: “Few are the people in history who stand out in such positions. Borrell stood out after the Gaza war, and he stood out in the European Union after the complete violation of human rights and humanity in Gaza and occupied Palestine; Borrell, Philippe Lazzarini at UNRWA, and United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, hoping that we find similar figures in the Arab world or the world in general.”
