Spiritual Leader Sheikh Muafaq Tarif calls for US security guarantees for members of the Druze minority in Syria
Sheikh Muafaq Tarif stated to Reuters news agency on December 10, 2025, regarding the As-Suwayda crisis: “We hope that America and President Trump, America as a superpower, will guarantee the rights of all minorities in Syria, ensure the rights of minorities, and prevent them from being violated, and that there will be no more massacres or slaughters of minorities.”
In response to a question, Sheikh Tarif emphasized the necessity of protecting minorities and their rights, and described the federal system applied in Switzerland and Germany as a proposed example among the solutions.
