On this day, we return with proud memories to March 8, 1954, when Sultan Pasha al-Atrash and his comrades returned from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, which they had entered following political disputes with the rule of Adib al-Shishakli in Syria. They returned after the fall of Shishakli's regime.
A day when the sun rose not only from the east, but radiated from the faces of the returning revolutionaries.
From Amman, the convoy began its march... a royal farewell and a popular reception that shook the foundations of Ruseifa, Zarqa, and Mafraq. Before the border, loyalty made a stand as the Al-Sardiya tribe residing in Sabha and Subhiyeh opened their homes and hearts for an entire night to "Abu Talal," so that the night was spent among the generous, and the journey proceeded toward glory.
Monday morning... The Mountain did not sleep!
Al-Qurayya, Dhibin, Baka... turned into a sea of people. Thousands of feet walked barefoot to welcome the convoy of dignity.
The Pasha entered al-Qurayya amid delegations from As-Suwayda and Damascus, to announce to the entire world: that tyranny is a passing summer cloud, and that the will of the people is the enduring destiny.
