Anwar Mansour Al-Jarmaqani… an exceptional man whose biography was written through actions, not words, and through a generosity that overflowed during his life and continued after his passing. He was not just a successful businessman in the diaspora since before the 1970s, but a human being who carried the concerns of his community wherever he went; he remained connected to his city, Salkhad, and the As-Suwayda Governorate, present in the details of their lives, close to their needs, and a true pillar of support for them.
He emigrated as an ambitious young man and achieved remarkable success in his business, but he never once disconnected from his roots. He sponsored the education of hundreds of underprivileged students, opening the doors of the future for them through university level. He also never hesitated to support needy families in Salkhad and other areas of the governorate, providing financial and food aid for many years without interruption.
One of his most notable humanitarian milestones was his significant support for the Cancer Patients Association in As-Suwayda since its inception in 2007, where he played the primary role in establishing its work and activating its operations. He undertook the purchase of the association's headquarters, provided a modern, air-conditioned bus to transport patients to Damascus for treatment periodically, and committed to a monthly financial contribution that continued until 2014, with his total contributions reaching approximately one hundred thousand dollars. After his passing in 2021, his family continued this generous approach, maintaining the continuity of his giving.
He was also the initiator of the idea to establish Al-Shifa Charity Hospital for cancer treatment, a major humanitarian project for which part of the structure was completed before work stopped due to the difficult circumstances the governorate is experiencing. In the educational field, he supported approximately 350 university students annually through scholarships provided via the Syrian Arab Red Crescent – As-Suwayda branch, in addition to his ongoing support for poor families through various forms of assistance.
During difficult national times, he was strongly present, standing by the families of martyrs and the wounded following the events of July 25, 2018, in the villages of Al-Muqran Al-Sharqi and some northern villages, providing financial support that extended for a full year, in addition to a significant contribution of one hundred thousand dollars to help those affected overcome their ordeal.
As for Lebanon, his family's ancestral home, he left a broad humanitarian mark since the civil war years in 1975, where he provided significant support, often anonymously, stemming from his deep belief in the unity of the Unitarian Druze community. He supported social, health, and educational institutions, from the Druze Foundation for Social Welfare to hospitals and educational institutions, and contributed to the care of martyrs' families and top-performing students, in addition to his support for hospitals, nursing homes, Tawhid schools, and the Druze community house in Beirut.
His giving extended to the Khalwats of Al-Bayada and orphanages in Lebanon and As-Suwayda, where he contributed to the restoration and equipping of institutions, and secured their needs periodically without request or compensation. He also supported the Red Crescent Society in As-Suwayda, contributing to the development of its health and humanitarian role in cooperation with its staff, until it became a distinguished model at the national level.
His stances were not limited to material support but were also manifested in courageous humanitarian positions, as he sought to resolve complex issues and help people in difficult circumstances out of chivalry; he even traveled from Nigeria specifically to help with a humanitarian case, and succeeded in doing so.
He was also part of an official delegation that accompanied the President of Nigeria on a visit to Syria, a move that reflected his status and extensive relationships.
These pages are but a drop in the ocean of a life filled with giving… the biography of a man who believed that goodness is a continuous act, and that the true impact of a human being is measured by what they leave behind in the lives of others.
