A prominent national figure combining political struggle, legal advocacy, and literary creativity, he is a Palestinian politician, lawyer, and writer from the 1948 territories belonging to the Druze community, born on April 1, 1953, in the village of Beit Jann in the Upper Galilee to a family with roots in the struggle; his father was Palestinian and his mother was Syrian, having sought refuge in Palestine following the martyrdom of her father during the Great Syrian Revolt of 1925. He pursued his higher education at Tel Aviv University, graduating in 1983 with a law degree to practice the legal profession.
