"Beyond the Song" is a program that explores the stories hidden behind songs, tracing their origins and the circumstances of their birth, and re-presenting them with a new voice, so that the lyrics appear not just as melodies, but as part of people's memory and history.
One of its episodes takes the viewer to the story of a Jawfiya associated with the poet Saleh Ammar from Arman, who participated in resisting the French campaigns. During one of the battles, as a French column advanced and the rebels were awaiting reinforcements, Ammar improvised verses in which he invoked the history of the Bani Ma'ruf and Shabib al-Tubba'i, turning poetry into a voice that lifted spirits at a decisive moment.
More than a century later, the Jawfiya remains present with a new voice and on today's stages, bringing back to memory the story of lyrics born from the heart of the battle, which then transformed into a song carrying the echo of an entire era.
