Before the internet became a part of our daily details, connecting to it was an adventure that required patience, a massive computer, and a phone line that could disconnect everything if someone decided to pick up the receiver!

In a new episode of "How Sweet the Days Were," we return to the 1990s, when the experience of entering the digital world was completely different from what we know today—from that famous dial-up sound and waiting for pages to load, to the very first beginnings of email, which allowed us to exchange messages on screen instead of using paper and stamps.

With the emergence of platforms like Facebook in 2004, the story expanded. The internet became a space to reconnect with old friends, share photos and daily details, and document phases of our lives that some of our accounts still preserve to this day.

Between that first email, a carefully chosen screen name, and an old photo that perhaps no longer resembles its owner, the episode recalls a time when the simplest steps of connection held the joy of discovery.

Do you still remember the first account you created and the first photo you shared? Or does your internet archive know more about you than you remember?
