In a new episode of the "Qalu bil-Jabal" (They Said in the Mountain) program, we return to a popular proverb passed down through generations to discover the story behind it, as narrated by the late Yousef Al-Hajri in 1988.
The story tells of a young man from the Jabal al-Arab revolutionaries whom the Ottoman authorities sentenced to death by hanging. While trying to delay the moment of execution, he asked to be moved from one pillar to another, repeating: "From pillar to pillar, the Worshipped Lord will bring relief."
Indeed, just before the sentence was carried out, a horseman arrived carrying a pardon and release order, turning moments of fear into a tale of hope and patience that the proverb has immortalized in the memory of the mountain's people.
"Qalu bil-Jabal"... proverbs from the tales of our ancestors, summarizing people's wisdom and their faith that relief can come in the most difficult moments.
