In a new episode of the "Our Grandparents' Tales" program on the "Kayan 24" platform, we host Uncle Abu Hassan Iyad Al-Jaba'i, a poet and transmitter of stories and poems inherited from elders and ancestors, in a meeting where he recalls one of the poignant poems that carry in its verses feelings of love, reproach, and nostalgia.

Uncle Abu Hassan chooses to begin his talk with the opening of a poem by the late poet Saeed Al-Qadi, which conveys the pain and anxiety of a lover, describing his state between longing, sleeplessness, and disappointment, in a popular poetic language that pulses with emotion and expresses a human experience close to the heart.

The poem carries poetic imagery that expresses the heaviness of waiting, the pain of separation, and the difficulty of patience when the heart is attached to the one it loves, leading to verses that summarize the regret of a lifetime over the days of youth that have passed, and the impact that disappointments have left on the soul.

Through his recitation and invocation of these verses, Uncle Abu Hassan sheds light on the value of folk poetry as a part of the memory passed down through generations, through which people's feelings, experiences, and life details have been preserved.

"Our Grandparents' Tales" is a space for reclaiming the stories and poems we inherited from our elders, and for preserving this heritage from oblivion, so that it remains present in the conscience of future generations.
