Anwar Mohammad El-Khalil is a Lebanese politician from the town of Hasbaya, born in Lagos, Nigeria, in 1938.
He is a member of Parliament for the Druze seat in the Hasbaya district of southern Lebanon. He was elected to this seat starting in 1991 and was re-elected in the 1992, 1996, 2000, 2005, and 2009–2013 terms. Following that, his parliamentary term was extended for four years before he returned to win his final term.
Education
He holds a high school diploma from International College Beirut, is a 1956 graduate of the American University of Beirut, and holds a Master of Laws (L.L.M.) from University College London (U.C.L.) obtained in 1959.
He is a Barrister-at-Law and a member of the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple, London.

Political Career
Following the Taif Agreement, he was appointed as a member of Parliament for the Druze seat in the Hasbaya district of southern Lebanon on June 7, 1991. He was re-elected in the 1992, 1996, 2000, 2005, and 2009–2013 terms, after which his parliamentary term was extended for four years before he returned to win his final term.
He held membership in numerous political committees, most notably:
Rapporteur of the National Defense, Interior, and Municipalities Committee in Parliament.
Member of the Finance and Budget Committee in Parliament.
Member of the Media and Communications Committee in Parliament.
Member of the Administration and Justice Committee in Parliament.
Member of the Women and Children Committee in Parliament.
He also chaired the Lebanese-Swiss Parliamentary Friendship Committee, the Lebanese-Argentine Parliamentary Friendship Committee, and the Lebanese-Spanish Parliamentary Friendship Committee.
He was a member of the Lebanese-Nigerian Parliamentary Friendship Committee, the Lebanese-Swedish Parliamentary Friendship Committee, and the Lebanese-European Parliamentary Friendship Committee.

Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs 1992 – 1995.

Awards
El-Khalil has been honored on several occasions. He is a recipient of the National Order of the Cedar – Commander rank – in 1974, and an award of appreciation from the King of Spain.
