The Lebanese Mountaineering and Climbing Federation announced the safe return of the Lebanese team after all of its members successfully summited Mount Elbrus in Russia (5,642 meters – the highest peak in Europe). The team included climbers: Christina Mehdi, Georges Khoury, Hamada Malaeb, Georges Chami, and Hassan Mourad, led by the Federation's Vice President, Avedis Kalpaklian.

In a gesture of solidarity with the steadfastness of the people of the South, the Lebanese team sent a salute from the summit of Mount Elbrus alongside raising the Lebanese flag.

It is noteworthy that climber Malaeb, a native of the town of Baysour, is the coordinator of the Hima Trails project at the Society for the Protection of Nature in Lebanon (SPNL), and had previously managed to summit Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain on the African continent, standing at 5,895 meters above sea level.
