In a picture that captures much of the chivalry, courage, and gallantry of the Banu Ma'ruf, a photo of an elderly Druze sheikh went viral as he participated in extinguishing the fire that broke out in the forests of his village, Bakkifa, in the Rashaya al-Wadi district.
The town's page, live love bakkifa, published the photo, commenting on it by saying:
“With our hands, we protect it”… Uncle Abu Hassan Suleiman Hijaz, at 75 years old, “rises to the occasion” to extinguish the fire on the mountain of Bakkifa this morning. May God grant him a long life and keep him in good health.
The page accompanied the comment with the hashtag “Son of the Land”.
